SUN is one of the leading producers of UV-LED wide format printers and SunFlower inks and also UV-LED units in Russia and CIS region, and is rapidly expanding into international markets. The company celebrated its tenth anniversary in March 2008.

Light-emitting diode system

The SUN company began its innovative activity from development of the light-emitting diode system of UV-radiation (UV-LED units) which are used for inks, lacquers and other structures solidification by UV-radiation. The system may be applied to both still and movable modules of equipment.

For a long time creation of the light-emitting diode units has been considered impossible and efforts of world companies has not been success in this sphere. Therefore the opinion that power of light-emitting diode was not enough for solidification has existed before the SUN company. The major participators of the market are interested in the development by the engineers from the SUN company’s service-center now.

NEO UV-LED Evolution

The developers from SUN managed to create the world’s first printer working under light-emitting diode – NEO UV-LED – in 2007. Thereafter the developments were still in progress and the presentation of the only 100% -ecological printer NEO UV-LED Evolution with the innovative electronics took place in 2008.

The printer itself is unique, the technology has no analogues in the world and enables direct printing on different types of roll and firm materials such as glass, wood, plastic, canvas, metal, particle board, etc.

The printer is ecological – ozone does not exude, the received images do not evaporate and they are absolutely safety for print workers’ health and for ultimate consumers. The sources of ink solidification are light-emitting diodes, which life time is 40 000 – 100 000 hours whereas other companies use UV-lamps (600-1500 hours). Thereafter improvement is going on at all points: coefficient of efficiency ~ 15%, minimal heat evolution even over a long period of time, record low power consumption.

Innovative electronics

Now adoption of nano-technology goes under the ink production. The new product NANOINK Sunflower will be the unique one in the world.

Use of nano-technologies enables to get higher stability behavior of inks in heads, to increase shelf life, image brightness, external factors resistance. As well nanoparticles protect the inner components of printheads against clogs promoting their purifying. The main benefit of these inks is increasing of light intensity of a printed image. Nanoparticles act as scatter lens so quantity-increasing effect of light intensity (brightness) arises.

The SUN company has got close partnership with many foreign companies such as: Konica Minolta (Japan), XAAR (Great Britain), Spectra (USA), Seiko (Japan), ColorGate (German).

There is a wide branch network over Russia and CIS. There are also some distributors abroad in France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Morocco, India, Kuwait, Australia, Rumania, Czech Republic and Belarus.

We work in collaboration with scientists from Academgorodok. Our cooperative labour advances science and enhances the prestige of Russia in the world. The company is planning to move to Berdsk soon (near Academgorodok).

In scientific area we expect to be close to necessary resources for further work that will make it possible for us to improve generated innovations.
