TAIRUS was founded on the basis of the developments of the hydrothermal synthesis laboratory of the Institute of geology of the SB of RAS. It grows and exploits beryl crystals (emerald, aquamarine), corundum (ruby, sapphire), and garnet.

TAIRUS is the only enterprise in the world that grows corundum crystals and many-colored sapphires under hydrothermal conditions. Initially artificial gems were grown from the salt melts by so-called fluxing method. The hydrothermal method is more recent and effective one. It is possible to grow the crystals under the conditions close to the natural.

TAIRUS production is oriented towards the world market, there the Thai company Pinky Trading represents TAIRUS interests. Through it the company works with a number of distributors from America, Europe, Asia, Australia.

The crystals grown by TAIRUS have a wide range of application. First of all, they could be used in jewelry. In physics crystals are used as optic elements, in ophthalmology crystalline lenses made from hydrothermal sapphires are used. Sapphire glasses are widely employed in optics and watch industry.
